{A Tarr Love Story} Engagement Session and Wedding Day

It is so important to me, that all of my clients know how incredibly special it is to me, that they chose me to be their ‘shadow’ on their wedding day. Trusting me to observe, create, and now share their story.  I have so enjoyed getting to know Cameron and Kayla over the course of their wedding planning these past several months. I know the Tarr Love Story does not end with their wedding day, but officially begins. I look forward to keeping in touch with these newlyweds so I can share in their joy when we all see what God has in store for their future.

Take a look at the full recap of Cameron and Kayla’s engagement session and wedding day as seen through me, along with wedding details and advice from my post-wedding interview with Kayla. Enjoy!

Cameron + Kayla

Engagement Session and Wedding Day Recap

{ Their Story }

 “We met at a mutual friend’s birthday party and Cameron has told me good morning everyday since the first day we met.” -Kayla

{ Engagement Session }

Locations, Kansas City, MO // Liberty Memorial, Quay Coffee Shop, River Walk

How did you choose your engagement session location? Which was your favorite? // “I personally love downtown and used to live there and Cameron and I would go on walks around Liberty Memorial and at the River walk.  Scenery wise the bridge was my favorite, however I just love the colors in the coffee shop photos!”

Advice from the couple //  “Know what you want ahead of time so you can get the shots you envision and plan for plenty of time to do them all.”

Wedding Day // Friday, August 25, 2017 // Eighteen Ninety Event Space

Planning time // mid-January – August 2017

Cameron and Kayla were in the final phase of deciding on their wedding venue, when they decided to check out one more, Eighteen Ninety Event Space. Once they toured the venue, they fell in love instantly!

What advice would you give to brides currently planning their wedding? // “Don’t do it on your own, have people help you and don’t overburden yourself. Wedding planners like Larissa Smith are great, she kept me sane!  I didn’t have to worry about a thing on wedding day which was great, she did all the heavy lifting, I just told her what I wanted.  I would never try to plan a wedding without her!”
Tell me about THE Dress // “I went to Belle Vogue Bridal and told them what I envisioned for my dress, the gal told me she knew what dress I was going to pick! She took it off the shelf and I tried it on, then tried on several more, and she was right! I was hooked since I put it on the first time!”

 Slabotsky’s Fine Menswear & Tailoring // “Cameron purchased his suit for less than he could rent at some places!”

Let’s hear about creating your own bouquet // “Gretchen, with Gretchen Kramp Events + Floral, reached out and told me she does flower parties. You purchase the flowers at wholesale and she comes and helps you design and put them together, I was sold! The flowers were perfect!  My bridesmaids and I spent a few hours the day before the wedding putting them together, it was so worth it!”

Sneaking a peak before the big walk down the aisle…

{ The Ceremony }

Eighteen Nintey Event Space, Platte City, MO //  Six o’clock in the evening

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day? // “Gosh, so many…. and yet it’s hard to even remember because the day went so fast. Walking down the aisle and seeing Cameron finally after waiting all day, and just being able to share the day with the special people in our lives.”

God’s Knot Unity Ceremony // “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” -Ecclesiastes 4:12

“This passage from Ecclesiastes illustrates the importance of Christian companionship. Two Christians that are bound together in Christ are stronger than the individuals themselves. We believe that Christian marriage is about more than the union of one man and one woman. The Bible teaches us that God performs a miracle in our marriage, uniting us together in a covenant relationship with Him as one. The Cord of Three Strands is a symbol of that sacred union created on your wedding day.”

Tell me about your first dance // “The song for our first dance was Love is Not a Fight, by Warren Barfield.  It’s about fighting for love, not against it.  The lyrics discuss God binding us together and if we try to leave may angels guard the door, asking God to protect our marriage.”

{ A Private Last Dance }

As the last of the wedding guests began to leave, Cameron and Kayla took one final trip around the dance floor, just the two of them. It was a beautiful way for them to breathe in the last few moments of their wedding day.
