It is so important to me, that all of my clients know how incredibly special it is to me, that they chose me to be their ‘shadow’ on their wedding day. Trusting me to observe, create, and now share their story.  I have so enjoyed getting to know Cameron and Kayla over the course of their wedding planning these past several months. I know the Tarr Love Story does not end with their wedding day, but officially begins. I look forward to keeping in touch with these newlyweds so I can share in their joy when we all see what God has in store for their future.

Take a look at the full recap of Cameron and Kayla’s engagement session and wedding day as seen through me, along with wedding details and advice from my post-wedding interview with Kayla. Enjoy!

Cameron + Kayla

Engagement Session and Wedding Day Recap

{ Their Story }

 “We met at a mutual friend’s birthday party and Cameron has told me good morning everyday since the first day we met.” -Kayla

{ Engagement Session }

Locations, Kansas City, MO // Liberty Memorial, Quay Coffee Shop, River Walk

How did you choose your engagement session location? Which was your favorite? // “I personally love downtown and used to live there and Cameron and I would go on walks around Liberty Memorial and at the River walk.  Scenery wise the bridge was my favorite, however I just love the colors in the coffee shop photos!”

Advice from the couple //  “Know what you want ahead of time so you can get the shots you envision and plan for plenty of time to do them all.”

Wedding Day // Friday, August 25, 2017 // Eighteen Ninety Event Space

Planning time // mid-January – August 2017

Cameron and Kayla were in the final phase of deciding on their wedding venue, when they decided to check out one more, Eighteen Ninety Event Space. Once they toured the venue, they fell in love instantly!

What advice would you give to brides currently planning their wedding? // “Don’t do it on your own, have people help you and don’t overburden yourself. Wedding planners like Larissa Smith are great, she kept me sane!  I didn’t have to worry about a thing on wedding day which was great, she did all the heavy lifting, I just told her what I wanted.  I would never try to plan a wedding without her!”
Tell me about THE Dress // “I went to Belle Vogue Bridal and told them what I envisioned for my dress, the gal told me she knew what dress I was going to pick! She took it off the shelf and I tried it on, then tried on several more, and she was right! I was hooked since I put it on the first time!”

 Slabotsky’s Fine Menswear & Tailoring // “Cameron purchased his suit for less than he could rent at some places!”

Let’s hear about creating your own bouquet // “Gretchen, with Gretchen Kramp Events + Floral, reached out and told me she does flower parties. You purchase the flowers at wholesale and she comes and helps you design and put them together, I was sold! The flowers were perfect!  My bridesmaids and I spent a few hours the day before the wedding putting them together, it was so worth it!”

Sneaking a peak before the big walk down the aisle…

{ The Ceremony }

Eighteen Nintey Event Space, Platte City, MO //  Six o’clock in the evening

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day? // “Gosh, so many…. and yet it’s hard to even remember because the day went so fast. Walking down the aisle and seeing Cameron finally after waiting all day, and just being able to share the day with the special people in our lives.”

God’s Knot Unity Ceremony // “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” -Ecclesiastes 4:12

“This passage from Ecclesiastes illustrates the importance of Christian companionship. Two Christians that are bound together in Christ are stronger than the individuals themselves. We believe that Christian marriage is about more than the union of one man and one woman. The Bible teaches us that God performs a miracle in our marriage, uniting us together in a covenant relationship with Him as one. The Cord of Three Strands is a symbol of that sacred union created on your wedding day.”

Tell me about your first dance // “The song for our first dance was Love is Not a Fight, by Warren Barfield.  It’s about fighting for love, not against it.  The lyrics discuss God binding us together and if we try to leave may angels guard the door, asking God to protect our marriage.”

{ A Private Last Dance }

As the last of the wedding guests began to leave, Cameron and Kayla took one final trip around the dance floor, just the two of them. It was a beautiful way for them to breathe in the last few moments of their wedding day.

This Fall, Austin surprised his wife Kate of 5 years with a wedding vow renewal. Kate was asked to be a model for an inspirational bridal shoot as a cover for the surprise.  She instead walked down the aisle to her husband, 3 kids, closest family and friends, and pastor Timmy Gibson for a renewal of their wedding vows. The renewal took place at Executive Hills Polo Club, a 7,000 sq. ft. mansion in Kansas City, MO.

Melissa Blayton, owner of Melissa Blayton Pro Artistry, spent the morning doing Kate’s hair and makeup. Keeping her secluded upstairs in the Executive Hills Polo Club bridal suite, so she wouldn’t see her husband and children arrive.

She wore a blush pink ball gown style wedding dress, headpiece and jewelry, all chosen from Stephanie’s Bridal Boutique. Complimented by a gorgeous full bouquet from Good Earth Floral Design Studio. As she rounded the corner of the covered back porch of the polo club, DJ Johnny Quest, with Your KC DJ, began to play their wedding song, “When I say I Do,” by Clint Black. She saw her husband, children, close family and friends waiting for her at the end of the aisle.

The arch was lined with white linens, garden and open roses, Mexican sage, hydrangea, astilbe, protea, ranunculus and eucalyptus. A dreamy set up for their vow renewal.

The Zeh family. Five years and three beautiful children later.

Inside the polo club; a sweetheart table with gold sequin linens, floral arrangements and place settings. Linens and place settings were chosen from UltraPom Event Rental. Kari, owner of Two Turtles Gift & Design Company hand painted with watercolor, the blush pink and gold menus.

Their gorgeous (and delicious) four-tired cake was done by Cakes and Cakes by Shelly.  She also provided the white and gold cake-pops for the guests.

The Zeh renewal was full of personal details. Shades of pink and gold watercolor details carried throughout the stationary and decor. Geometric shaped tiles tied together the floral centerpieces and took place of traditional placecards.

Delish Catering provided appetizers and on-site smoked local cheese.

Austin shared the story of how he and Kate met with family and friends. It was planned and printed on a keepsake booklet, also hand-painted by Kari.

Top Shelf Bartending Service provided custom cocktails for the event. A favorite, the Moscow Mule and Blushing Bride.

No wedding and/or event is complete without a photo booth! InstaFun KC PhotoBooth was onsite with their custom designed camper to create memories and document this special occasion.

The sun began to set and we wrapped up this truly special occasion with photos at sunset. Executive Hills Polo Club sits on 15 acres of scenic property, an ideal location for their sunset photos.

This unique and special vow renewal was possible thanks to the talent and coordination of Larissa Smith, with Glamorous Galas. Her unique vision and relationships to the best vendors in the business made this surprise vow renewal, a day to remember.

It’s not everyday that I get to photograph a love story like Joe and Leah’s.  When Joe spoke to their wedding guests, he informed everyone he “knew within the first five minutes of meeting her that he wanted to marry her, and said a prayer that it would happen.” What an incredible moment that must have been for them both. Having the opportunity to document this day for a couple so meant for each other is one of my greatest pleasures as a photographer.

We began Joe and Leah’s gorgeous Fall wedding day with the ladies getting ready at The Parlor on the Plaza. Joe and groomsmen met us there and we traveled to Kauffman Center for Performing Arts for part one of our bridal party photos. Joe and Leah chose to do all of their formal portraits before the ceremony so they would have more time to spend with their guests at the reception.  After Kauffman Center we stopped by their reception venue, Hillcrest Golf and Country Club, for additional photos with just Joe and Leah, before heading to St. Thomas More for their traditional catholic ceremony.

Their ceremony took place at Saint Thomas More Parish in Kansas City, MO.

Fun story! With the help of about six groomsmen and friends, we had some sparkler fun! Those guys got a good cardio workout running circles around the happy couple!

Thanks to Brandon Wofford with Complete Weddings and Events, we were able to get the majority of the guest on the dance floor for a group photo!

THANK YOU Joe and Leah for choosing Easton Studios to document this awesome day for you! Wishing you both a lifetime of adventure and happiness ahead!!
